He studied piano and harmony with C. Martínez Imbert and L. Millet. From 1900, he studied at the Schola Cantorum in Paris, where he was a piano and organ student of Vincent d'Indy and Abel Decaux. When he returned to Barcelona in 1907, he became organ teacher at the Orfeó Català and organist at Pompeia church. In addition, he collaborated with the Pau Casals orchestra. In 1910s and 1920s, he inaugurated ecclesiastical organs. He also devoted his time to music criticism and was a contributor of Revista Musical Catalana and La Vanguardia. He also contributed with translations to Diccionario de la música ilustrado and wrote programme notes for Associació de Música de Cambra. As a composer, he composed sacred and secular vocal music. He took part in the Catalan première of Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with Orfeó Català and of Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis with the Orquestra Pau Casals.
