Composer and Kapellmeister

He began his studies possibly in Lleida under Domènec Teixidor and later in the Chapel of Palau de la Comtessa under Bernat Tria and in the chapel of Santa Maria del Pi under Paul Llinàs. He was Kapellmeister of Girona’s Cathedral from 1735 to 1774, replacing Tomàs Milans. Around a hundred compositions by Gònima have survived. Especially worth mentioning are the vilancets that show his transition from baroque to galant style. His output has been organized in three parts: first, compositions of baroque style; second, compositions of Italian influence; and third compositions of gallant style.
