Biografía

Soprano

She initially studied with her mother, also soprano, and later with Caritat Hernàndez and Melcior Vidal in Milan. In 1906, she debuted at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in the role of Micaela in Carmen. This was the starting point of her career, in which she performanced in the most important theatres, such as La Scala (Milan), the Covent Garden (London) or La Fenice (Venice), and in cities such as Chicago, Buenos Aires and Saint Petersburg. She finished her career at the Salzburg Festival in 1931. She was a soprano leggero and was considered one of the best sopranos of the first third of the twentieth century. She was especially appreciated singing the role of Ofelia in the Abroise Thomas’s Hamlet.
